Hippo madness...

I've been working on this hippo design for a while now,
but i just can't seem to get it right.
Should the 'snout' be grey? But then it kind of blends in.
Should the 'snout' be more pinkish?

I guess life isn't so bad when the only thing getting you down is a hippo snout!

since i posted anything here! I could use the excuse of being pregnant and recently having my baby, but I wasn't exactly a 'blogging machine' pre-pregnancy either!
Anyways, hopefully all will be forgiven!

Well, I haven't jumped back into my clay work yet, but in between feedings-to keep my sanity-I have started working on some new 'felties' for my etsy shop!

Bits+ Pieces...

Well, I think that I will actually be ready for
the Spring One of a Kind Show...which is a relief! For a little while last week things were looking not so good, but now the end is in sight, and as you can see by the pics
the bits and pieces are starting to come together!

Things weren't helped last week with the fact that our computer went crazy and lost all our emails and email addresses.....yes, my entire mailing list that I'd been collecting for the past 3-4 years was gone! It was a bit devastating to say the least.
I spent a few hours on the computer last night entering all of the addresses I had written down...I know there's still some that are missing which really sucks. So, if you'd like to be on my mailing list please feel free to drop me an email at: lag@lesleyannegreen.com
and then I can keep you posted about shows and such!

Bunnies-to-be!

These little guys are waiting patiently in line to receive their bunny ears.
Some are obviously more patient than others...I think I can see beads of sweat starting to form on the forehead of the second from the front!

I think that one bunny might decide to hop on over to the shop this weekend...
so be sure to keep a look out!

...soon-to-be bunnies were all huddled together waiting to be fired today.
It was a chilly one out there, i almost froze my tushy off loading the kiln!

You can't see it in the picture, but the kiln is actually standing on what looks to be a skating rink
made by squirrels.
Unfortunately, I haven't been lucky enough to see them use it yet!

Bernice the brown bear!

In between finishing up a couple of commissions and trying to get ready for the
Spring One of a Kind Show...I made Bernice the brown bear!
She is almost 13 inches tall, and is a combination of needle felting and fabric plush.
She has been living on my bookshelf for the past couple of days, but now she lives in my wee shop!

clay vs. wool

I don't want anybody getting the wrong idea, thinking that I've run off with wool and abandoned clay forever. So, I thought I would post some pics. of this little lady that I'm working on. I think she looks as happy as a clam sitting there on my notes with her puffed sleeves.

I might have to make another kitten...this one looks a bit raccoon-ish.
What do you think?

I have to say that I'm as pleased as punch with this little sweetie pie!
Toot! Toot! Toot! (That's me tooting my own horn.)
All of that said, my little needle felted friends are not quite ready for the shop
just yet!
Practice makes perfect, so I better be off...I hear the wool calling to me, or maybe that's just a cheese sandwich-it is lunch time after all!

....with needle felting!
After admiring Jenn Docherty's work for so long, and seeing various other's work on Etsy,
I decided to try it for myself. I hopped on over to Romni Wools last week, picked up some wool and a felting pin, and began 'stabbing' away as soon as I got in the door! (It's not as violent as it sounds...trust me.)

Before long I was a smitten little kitten.

This wee teddy was my first attempt....

....he is about 3.5 inches tall, and has movable arms and legs.
Sadly, he has no eyes.

Attempt #2.....

...a bunny! With eyes!

Attempt #3 is in the works. I'll post some pics if it turns out okay,
and if i don't, you'll know something went terribly wrong.

For all those needle felters out there, helpful hints and tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hope everyone had a relaxing holiday...i know i did!
I been back at work for a couple of days now. I can't say they've been the most productive work days I've had, but the important thing is that.....
....I'm trying?
